New Genes Linked to Alzheimer’s

Posted by

The recent research carried out by the scientists has given signs of new genes that are responsible for Alzheimer disease. Genes are generally responsible for controlling the functions of every cell in the body along with determining some basic characteristics such as your skin colour, your hair colour etc. It is quite strange to hear that the few of these genes can also leave you with this deadly disease named Alzheimer.

Alzheimer is a disorder which causes mental problems associated with memory, thinking and behaviour. Alzheimer causes memory loss to such an extent that it starts interfering with the daily life of human being. Although Alzheimer hits people who are of the age of 65 or more, but the new genes identified hit people who are in between the age of 40 to 50.

The time when Alzheimer disease started evolving, there were very few genes which carried risk. Now, the list has multiplied manifolds. The new genes that carry risk factor include MEF2C, SORL1, ZCWPW1, NME8, CASS4 etc.

Alzheimer symptoms have worsened over the years since it is a progressive disease. In the beginning, memory loss is mild but in the later stages of life, it hurts the person so badly that he is not even able to carry out conversations. What’s worse is that there is no cure available if Alzheimer is one of your weak links.

How to check if you are a victim of Alzheimer Disease?

A person can go for blood tests if he has apolipoprotein E (APOE) gene that is affecting him. However, that doesn’t guarantee that you might develop Alzheimer at a later stage in your life. Nobody can guarantee and take the tests with cent percent guarantee. This test can definitely help you in identifying and diagnosing early onset of Alzheimer Disease.

With the latest researches, many people carry the hope that the cure will be found by the scientists in the days to come.
