Hair loss is one of the most common problems whose roots have to be identified and dealt as soon as possible. Sometimes, it is your diet while many times it is your lifestyle that can be held responsible for hair loss. Anyone from the age of 6 months to a person aged 70 can be a victim of hair fall, although the pattern in the hair fall can differ. If you are also seeing a lot of hairs under your pillow or while you comb that too in huge amount, it’s time for you to get a treatment.

In this article, we will try to understand the types of hair falls a human being can have, causes behind hair fall and how it can be treated or prevented.

Hair fall causes

Stress: One of the reasons you see too many hairs falling is because you are stressed. When hairs fall because of stress, it is known as telogen effluvium.

Too much experiment with your hairs: To look stylish, many people experiment too many things with the hairs. This includes hair styling gel, using hair blower, coloring, straightening etc.

Eating unhealthy food: Hair loss can also be a result of eating unhealthy food. The processed food has little/no nutritional value thus causing the deficiency of the elements, which hair needs to grow.

Type of hair falls, treatment and their prevention

  1. 1. Androgenetic Alopecia: This is the most common kind of hair fall seen these days around the globe and mainly occurs because of excess male hormones known as dihydrotestosterone. This can happen to both men and women. In this kind of hair loss, hairs are lost in a definite pattern and hair transition takes place from large, thick hairs to thinner and shorter and then to non-pigmented vellus hairs. Men usually go bald when they encounter this kind of hair fall while the case isn’t same with women.

Androgenetic Alopecia Prevention: Medical treatment does not guarantee a cent percent treatment for this kind of hair fall. Instead, you can go for Ayurveda treatment which includes tea tree oil which is quite effective anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory agent. You can also use coconut oil against this kind of hair fall.

  1. Telogen Effluvium: This type of hair loss is temporary which gradually decreases in few months. This kind of hair fall occurs for those hairs which are in resting phase and when new hairs are about to grow. In this condition, 30% hairs present on the head stop growing and go into resting phase before falling down. This type of hair fall is normally triggered due to Iron deficiency, surgery, weight loss etc.

Telogen Effluvium prevention: You can prevent deficiency of iron and nutrients and all kind of possible shocks to your head. There has been no treatment that has been found effective against this disease. Eating well-balanced diet is probably the best option for this type of hair fall.

  1. Traction alopecia: This type of hair loss occurs when somebody pulls the hairs with great force or with some kind of tension applied to the hairs including tight hair clips, tight hairbands etc. The affected areas in this type of hair fall are least likely to produce hairs.

 

Traction alopecia Prevention: The treatment in this kind of hair loss is only effective before your hairs are at a stage of permanent loss. You can even prevent it by loosely tie your hairs and by taking less stress.

 

  1. Anagen Effluvium: It is an abrupt loss of those hairs which are in growing phase. This happens due to events such as chemotherapy, radiations and other toxic chemicals diminishing the metabolic activity

Anagen Effluvium Prevention: It is difficult to prevent this type of hair fall since it happens mostly due to surgeries, you can definitely go for its treatment which includes topical minoxidil and scalp cooling.
