When we talk about migraines, the first thing that comes up in most of the people’s mind is Headache. Also, people think migraines usually doesn’t last really long. These impressions don’t let people take migraines seriously as much as it should be. Migraines are as prevalent as hypertension and are more common than asthma and diabetes mellitus

Migraines when comes doesn’t come alone, rather it brings a series of other problems as well such as aura or nausea. A migraine with aura is called common migraines while Migraine without aura is called classic migraines. Its frequency can vary from once a year to once a day.

In spite of better technology that has evolved over time, most of the time, this disease goes unrealized. Migraines are also sometimes triggered via food you eat, the activities you do every day. Foods containing large amounts of monosodium glutamate cause migraines. Not getting enough sleep and stress can also lead to migraines. It often begins on one side of your head. The symptoms include loss of appetite and parts of the body feeling numb.

So many problems this disease brings and yet no cure has been found till now. There are few treatments available which can reduce the number of attacks. The treatments differ with age.

Treatment via Medications: There are few medicines available in the market that can help in reducing the pain quickly. Medicines such as promethazine, chlorpromazine, and prochlorperazine, Triptans help in the cause.

Treatment via home therapies: Sometimes, migraines can be treated via massage, heat therapy, meditation, and other relaxation techniques.

Keeping a healthy lifestyle: Limiting things like smoking, caffeine, alcohol which trigger migraines can help in treatment.

My advice is if a headache is making you sick more often, you should go for a checkup. Treating headaches as early as possible can help in minimizing the chance of migraines.
